Kapal TLDM rosak, kejar kapal perang China, mana Scropene?

Satu berita yang amal memalukan. Kapal Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia KD Pari telah rosak dan hampir tenggelam dalam kejadian mengejar kapal perang (frigate) negara China yang menceroboh perairan negara di Sabah. Mana kapal selam negara berharga hampir RM 5 billion. Dan kos untuk senggara kapal selam ini pula hampir RM500 juta yang ditambah dalam bajet 2011.

Hampir 5 peratus bajet pertahanan untuk senggara kapal selam saja. Sementara itu dilaporkan beberapa kerosakan kapal TLDM lain antaranya KD Serang mengalami lintar pintas, KD Todak kapal pemusnah periuk api dah 2 bulan tak boleh beroperasi selepas satu kemalangan.

Bukit Kepong telah menjadi sejarah dan pengajaran. Adakah kita ingin mengulangi sejarah Bukit Kepong dan Kalabakan dengan pertahanan negara yang lemah?

KD Pari sustained a dislodged shaft while pursuing a China-flagged ship encroaching on waters off Pulau Layang Layang on Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) vessel, in pursuit of a foreign ship encroaching on waters off Pulau Layang Layang on Thursday, was forced to abandon its operation after its engine room was flooded.

RMN chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar said the crew of the Fast Attack Craft-Gun (FAC-G) vessel KD Pari heard a 'loud bang' soon after it had departed the island westward to pursue a China-flagged vessel, believed to be a frigate, spotted at Gugusan Semarang Peninjau in the South China Sea at 2.53pm.

"Initial investigations revealed that the KD Pari sustained a dislodged shaft, which connects the propeller to the engine, and the vessel turned back to its base.

He added a second RMN ship, the new-generation patrol vessel KD Pahang was immediately summoned to pursue the China-flagged ship and managed to "shoo it away" after efforts to communicate with it failed.

Damage to KD Pari, which reportedly underwent refurbishment in 2009 to the tune of RM12 million, is believed to be in the tens of millions of ringgit.

KD Pari, pennant number 3510, was built by Hong Leong-Lurssen at its Butterworth shipyard and commissioned on March 23, 1977.

It weighs 244 tonnes, is 44.9m x 7m x 2.5m, can sail at 32 knots and is manned by 36 crew members

The RMN also confirmed that another FAC-G vessel, KD Serang, sustained a small fire from a short-circuit on Aug 31 while minesweeper KD Todak was 'grounded' after a slight mishap with a floating object two months earlier.

SCORPENE SUBMARINES

Royal Malaysian Navy Scorpene submarine title as Tunku Abdul Rahman during Trials near Lorient in march 2008. Malaysia's first Scorpene-class diesel-electric submarine named after the country's first premier "KD Tunku Abdul Rahman" inducted in Malaysia's Naval fleet at a ceremony.

Two Scorpène class submarines were ordered by the RMN on June 5, 2002 under a €1.04 billion (about RM4.78 billion) contract.

Mindef gets RM493.3mil more, for Scorpene subs upkeep

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry received an additional allocation of RM493.3mil this year, raising the ministry's budget to a total of RM11bil.

Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the supplementary budget was needed to maintain the country's two Scorpene submarines as well as for administrative purposes.

“The main purpose is to maintain our Scorpene submarines as that expense was not included in the budget,” he told reporters Tuesday when receiving a four-wheel drive vehicle from UNDP under a multidimensional peacekeeping training project, called the Malaysian Peacekeeping Training Project (MPTP), conducted by UNDP and Mindef in Port Dickson.

Kapal peronda TLDM hampir tenggelam di perairan Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR – Sebuah kapal peronda Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM), KD Pari separa tenggelam apabila bilik jentera utamanya bocor dinaiki air setelah salah satu daripada shaft kapal tersebut tertanggal.

Kejadian itu berlaku pada pukul 2.53 petang Khamis lalu semasa kapal itu baru sahaja keluar dari Pulau Layang-Layang untuk melakukan rondaan di perairan Gugusan Semarang Peninjau di perairan Sabah.

Bagaimanapun, kesemua sembilan pegawai dan 27 anak kapal jenis Fast Attack Craft-Gun itu terselamat.
